Sleeping on the night before holidays has never went well for me. I try, but I feel so anxious. I took some kind of sleeping supplement, I bought it for the trip to China. It'll hopefully help. If not, then it's gonna be a slow boat to China...as the phrase goes. This time literally.
I saw Sweeney Todd the movie tonight. Eh. That's all I can really say. It was about ten minutes in that I realized it was never meant for the screen. The show is genius, the lyrics are brilliant. It moved way to quickly to really feel anything. Plus watching Mrs. Lovett burn up was almost comical to watch. I was happy that Toby was defined as a boy, rather than a man child.
Christmas is a strange season. As usual, I was home for about 30 seconds and now I'm leaving again. I'll be with my family on Christmas, which is nice. I'll drink a little and feel all tipsy. Before the day is done I'll be bus bound to Brooklyn. Then the next day to relax and pack. Then to JFK to go to China.
There wasn't a day this weekend that I slept in past 8:45, which is odd. What is wrong with me? Why can't I sleep in anymore? Maybe I'll do that on the 26th, seeing as I don't have to go to the gym.
This Christmas shall not be difficult. I feel as if there's always some anthill to climb, yet it feels like a mountain. Why is that? Little Children, I felt just like Kate Winslet. We live on dreams. The scene where she is spying on Patrick Wilson and sees his wife and just bursts into tears. I've felt that before. She makes a simple affair into an infatuation, how typical of the dreamers of life.
I think it's time to TRY to sleep. Perhaps Beckett will push me into dreamland. I haven't enjoyed my dreams since I've been home. Hopefully tonight will not continue the trend.

Weekend In the Country
Time for illegal bootleg musical reviews:
In other news, it's been go-go-go in life. Tomorrow will be the third day I don't get proper sleep. It's how it works. You sit there and say, well if he has no free time, then how is he watching musicals?
My answer is, while I write my paper, while I sew my beret, while I do things. I envy those who "have time" I look forward to it someday soon. Finishing this paper tonight has assured me sometime.
I was going to write more, but I got distracted...DAMN!
- Hedwig and the Angry Inch (stage version) — Phenomenal! Really funny, sometimes bad sound quality. Totally great though. I just feel for it much more than the movie. There's something about a stage show with one person telling a tale. You don't need all the extra scenes, you just need that energy to get you through. The ending was great, when Hedwig turns into Tommy, it just explained a lot to me. It also made more sense to me than the movie.
- Sweeney Todd Revival — It was so great to see Patti back on the stage again. I remember seeing it in 2005 and hating it. I was in a much different place in my life though. I wasn't happy. Watching it again has made me realize how much I adore it. It's a brilliant revival. All the characters are played very well and with a touch of craziness. Watching it through something struck me about the ending. That I never thought of. It's just a silly little fact, but it made things a little more interesting.
- Chess the 2003 Concert Version — Funny show. I still enjoy the Swedish production more. It was great to finally hear. Yet something lacked...oh yes the ending. The DVD cuts out right before the final song. I don't mind, I got all I needed from it. The extra songs they added is what I mean. That's all I needed to hear, really. Otherwise it's kind of a snooze, but fun to watch. The Swedes do it so much better because it's a full out production. Sure you can't understand a word, but it's so fun to watch.

Attend the Tale...
In my humble opinion, and that doesn't mean much, it keeps looking better every time I see a trailer. There's always that chance though that they've left out ALL the flaws.

At last My Right Arm is Complete Again!
I wasn't thrilled about it at first, but I slowly warned up to the idea...
Now after watching the trailer, this has all the makings of a Masterpiece!*
